Housing and Location

Where is the program held?

The Center for Advanced Materials Characterization in Oregon (CAMCOR) located on the Eugene campus of the University of Oregon operates this hands-on program. The facility houses more than $35 million of capital equipment in an open-access, ultra-stable lab environment that exceeds NIST A standards for vibration, electromagnetic interference, and temperature control.

Do you offer housing?

No, we do not have any housing specifically designated for students in our program. The university may have some housing options available on campus, although most of our past students have opted to live off-campus. Please keep in mind when looking at housing/leases that most of our students obtain internships in other cities/states and only live in Eugene for the fall and winter terms. Once our cohort has been selected, we will connect all students in the program to aid anyone seeking a roommate.

What is living in Eugene like?

Nestled in the Willamette Valley, we’re only an hour away from the coast and mountains. Eugene is an easygoing and lively city:

  • Great outdoor recreation options include hiking, biking, and skiing
  • Home to the Oregon Ducks, TrackTown USA, and the Eugene Emeralds
  • Abundant restaurants, bars, breweries, and wineries
  • Art and culture: Hult Center for the Performing Arts, Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art, the UO's Museum of Natural and Cultural History, and the Saturday Market
